Terms and definitions
Manga creator
A tool or person that makes manga, the Japanese style of comic storytelling read right-to-left. Mangaw0rld's manga creator helps you plan, draft, and publish manga chapters.
Webtoon creator
A tool or person that makes webtoons, vertical-scroll comics designed for mobile phones. Mangaw0rld supports long scrolling episodes and mobile-first layouts.
Comic studio
A workspace that combines writing, page layout, art management, and publishing for comic creators. Mangaw0rld is a browser-based comic studio.
Light novel
A Japanese-style illustrated novel, usually released in volumes with a handful of full-page illustrations. Mangaw0rld's light novel studio handles volumes, chapters, and illustration plates.
Illustration plate
A full-width illustration placed inside a novel's text, usually with a title and caption. In Mangaw0rld you insert plates from your own media library and set their width and alignment.
Ruby text
Small reading guides printed above kanji or other characters, also called furigana. Mangaw0rld's light novel editor can add ruby readings and emphasis dots to any run of text.
Episode strip
The single tall image a webtoon episode is built as, before it is sliced into upload-sized pieces. Mangaw0rld drafts episodes as strips and slices them for you at export.
Vertical scroll
The reading style used by webtoons, where panels flow down one continuous column instead of across a page. Mangaw0rld's webtoon drafter works in this format natively.
Story planner
A tool for mapping story arcs, characters, locations, and chapters before drawing begins. Mangaw0rld's story planner links your bible to your chapter outlines.
Series bible
A central document that tracks characters, locations, factions, lore, and continuity across a series. Mangaw0rld keeps the bible connected to every chapter.
Page drafter
A browser tool for blocking panels, placing dialogue, and exporting a visual brief before final art is commissioned.
Script pin
A note, line of dialogue, or SFX marker attached to a panel or page in the page drafter so the script and visuals stay aligned.
Trim
The final cut or finished page size of a printed or digital comic. Common manga trims include B5 and A5; webtoons use tall vertical dimensions.
Panel
A single frame on a comic page that contains artwork and usually dialogue or narration. Panels are arranged into rows and columns or vertical flows.
Speech bubble
A rounded or shaped container for dialogue in comics. Mangaw0rld's page drafter supports speech bubbles as part of the visual brief.
